According to media reports, currently, Rizhao Steel's steelmaking capacity has reached 18.95 million tons, and it has carried out digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading across the entire process, including pre-ironmaking, ironmaking, and steelmaking.
It is reported that Shandong is a major steel-producing province in China. The province currently has 17 steelmaking enterprises with a crude steel capacity of about 80 million tons, ranking third in the country.
In recent years, a number of enterprises, including Rizhao Steel, have been pursuing green development and striving for high-quality growth.
"In recent years, Shandong has vigorously promoted the transformation and development of the steel industry, transferring inland steel capacity to the two major steel bases of Rizhao-Linyi and Laiwu-Tai'an, which has significantly increased industry concentration," said Kong Qingcheng, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.
Currently, 10 steel enterprises in the transmission corridor cities have completed the transfer of 19.75 million tons of ironmaking capacity and 23.56 million tons of steelmaking capacity.
The two major bases account for nearly 80% of the total capacity, with coastal capacity reaching 56%. Steel capacity replacement projects such as Rizhao Steel, Steel Investment Special Steel, Xinhai Industry, and Shiheng Special Steel have all been successfully launched and operated.
In addition, at present, all 12 BF-EAF based steel enterprises in Shandong Province have reached the A-level environmental performance standard, and eight have been rated as national green factories.
